Operation InAsMuch

“Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.”  (Jesus)

Welcome to Hillsdale Baptist Church's Operation Inasmuch page.  Operation Inasmuch was our opportunity to go out into our community and minister to those in need.  90+ people gathered April 28, to move out into the community to serve others.

We partnered with community organizations and agencies, such as the following, to move into our community to serve others in the name of Jesus.

    • Davie County Senior Services Meals anmd visits and handyman projects
    • Big Brothers Big Sisters Picnic at Rich Park
    • Laundromat Outreach Walk Coin Laundry
    • Davie Advocacy Center Handyman projects
    • Smart Start of Davie County Volunteering assistance for KidsFest at the Brock
    • Children on Mission - Doing mission projects on site at Hillsdale
    • Blood Pressure Screening
    • Invictus 5k Run/Walk - volunteer to help on April 21 for the run in Cooleemee

The day, April 28, has come and gone and the celebration is over.  Where do we go from here?  Do we wait until April 27, 2013 to plan more “projects” to complete in one day?  The goal of Hillsdale on Mission, the team responsible for bringing Operation Inasmuch about, sees this as a springboard for ongoing service and ministry in Jesus’ name, throughout the year.

God created us to be like Jesus and to do as He did, which was seeking to serve and save the lost.  He was a servant.  Will we continue to look for ways to serve Him without being asked?  Will we continue to serve Him without having a “special day” planned for us to do so?  Will we listen to His Spirit as we go about our daily routines?  What will He tell us?  Where will he lead us?  To whom will lead us?  Let’s head out into the world with our ears, eyes and hearts  wide open to what God is doing and join Him in it.

    Reflections on Operation Inasmuch 2011

“The Big Brothers Big Sisters picnic luncheon was a great opportunity to love on children and interact with them in a fun way.  We shared smiles, laughs, and hugs as we shared God's love in play and craft  activities.”        Tammy Bracken

“Even though one of our handyman projects had already been completed by a neighbor, I was still blessed by our visit.  The lady we visited was too sick to get up from her sofa.  I asked if there was anything she would like to pray about before we left.  Her husband stammered as if he was uncomfortable and was going to say no, but before he could, she reached out her arm and said in a voice bordering on desperation, 'Please pray for my health.'"  RobertBowman

"Being a part of OIAM was such a privilege!  I looked   forward to not only using my time and talents to serve God & others but as a way to meet people I did not know. Five of the six people I spoke with by telephone all wanted to meet me - not because I am special - but because I sensed how much they wanted to put a face with the voice.  Their loneliness came through over the telephone!  One lady told Kelly Sloan of Davie County Senior Services that some church out in the country sitting on a hill would be bringing her lunch!  What a wonderful way to remember us! Now, if only they remember us telling them that God loves them and we do too!"  Cecilia Ayers

What one young lady said about last year's experience

For Operation In As Much, I went out to Rich Park for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Program.  I really connected with this one girl, named Aniston.  We connected so well that she asked if I could be her "big sister."   Unfortunately, I told her that I didn't think I could join the program because I am in college and would be going back to school in August.  After I left that Saturday, I knew that I had to see this girl again!

I subbed some in the schools while school was still going on.  I got to see her at school and talk with her some more.  Still I felt like that was not enough...

My grandfather held a basketball camp for kids who lived in Cooleemee.  He was trying to reach out to the community and allow Cooleemee kids to be involved.  I helped out at the camp everyday.   God works in awesome ways because....Aniston attended that camp.  I got to hang out with her everyday and help her with basketball.  Every morning she would look for me and come up to me and we would just kinda spend most of the day together.  I tried to help out with the stations that she was at, and when I wasn't busy with camp, I would eat lunch with her.

God knew that this young girl and I would meet again, and it was awesome! I am glad that I was allowed to spend more time with her during a week of basketball camp.  I just thought I would share my awesome follow up experience with Operation InAsMuch.
